Spring or Faux Spring?

Asparagus officinalis is a spring vegetable, a flowering perennial plant species in the genus Asparagus. - Wikipedia

I tried to tell the asparagus that it is only February 1st, but they won't listen to me. The La Nina weather condition has made for a most usual winter. We have had very little rain, and very warm, dry weather. It feels more of Fall than Winter, and the asparagus have decided to emerge and declare the next season is here. This is the third spring for these asparagus crowns, and we will be harvesting them in full force this year. After two years of patiently watching them grow, I am seriously excited to grill them on the barbecue this weekend.
